30 years old? That could still be running on R-12. Can’t beat good old ozone depleting cold juice. It’s a shame it would have killed us all because it really is a spectacular refrigerant.
Um akshually it was phased out in the 80’s and totally banned by 95 (in theory anyways)
Yes, I’m afraid to inform you that 1995 was more than 30 years ago.
Akshually it’s not even totally banned today. You can still use it. It’s just heniously expensive because manufacture and import of it was banned. We’ve still got a jug at the shop just in case. In theory we charge $144 per lb for it but in reality I don’t think anyone has taken that jug on a service call in years. Maybe I should do that. It probably gets lonely at the shop.
Also, you should know that it doesn’t matter what year it actually is, the 90s are always 20 years ago.
