In a joint resolution, members of the European Parliament across the political spectrum condemned “China’s repressive assimilation policies and consequent violations of universal human rights, including in Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia”, the resolution reads.

“[The Parliament] expresses grave concern over the adopted Law on the Promotion of Ethnic Unity and Progress, which openly promotes assimilation policies and restricts the cultural, religious and linguistic freedoms of various groups within China and beyond.”

The lawmakers urge China to repeal the law, thereby upholding its obligations under international law regarding non-discrimination, and call on European Council to activate the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime against officials and entities responsible for conceiving and implementing this law.

The resolution also urges all EU Member States to suspend extradition treaties with China to protect persecuted individuals residing in the EU from the risks of transnational repression under this law.

I gotta wonder which Europeans were chanting “Less Ethnic Unity!”

The Germans? The French? Certainly not the Portuguese.

Gotta say, this feels like a great moment to lead by example. How many European states are excited about a large Muslim ethnic enclave running a rump state in their own backyards? Bueller? Anybody?

Hey, how about we at least let Turkiye join the EU? Oh wow wow! Now you’re all super mad at me! Okay, put down the guns, I’ll leave.

This ‘remigration’ thing is promoted by the European far-right, in particular by Germany’s AfD. It’s a fundamentally extremist party with close ties to and backed by China and Russia. Their aim is to sow division in democratic societies.

German right-wing party AfD’s close ties to China and Russia habe been known for years, with some trials closed and others still ongoing. This is well known and even admitted by the AfD itself.

German right-wing party AfD’s close ties to China

The AfD has deeper ties to Elon Musk, Steven Miller, and Steve Bannon than anyone currently working in the Chinese Communist Party. And that’s outright ignoring the mass proliferation of home grown fascism, thanks to Friedrich Flick, Fritz Thyssen, and Günther Quandt - all of whose business empires have spawned fascist movements leading right up to the modern era.

The Sinophobia is, itself, a product of that extreme right-wing language and culture. By propagating it, you’re spouting fascist rhetoric and contributing to the fascist turn across the US and Europe.
