It should be a sign that no-one takes pride in menial (or perhaps manual labour) jobs simply because it is no longer a career route.
I did some temp work setting up a solar farm in England, hauling heavy panels up onto the frames. They offered me ‘toolshed’ duty because they thought I was too clever for the job (or was I young and obnoxious lol). I nevertheless refused. I liked being out on the fields and the fitness gained from it.
Point is, there is a comraderie when you are alongside people and know that they’re just as funny, warm and witty as you.
Sort of dehumanizes immigrants. Like nothing wrong with hiring an immigrant when he is more qualified and paid the same.
