cross-posted from: https://piefed.world/c/tech/p/1305860/google-search-testing-sign-in-to-verify-searches-are-human

Google Search is testing asking searchers to sign in to verify they are humans and not bots conducting the searches.

Google will stop showing you search results, as you click through the pages, and say “Sign in to verify you’re a human and see more results.”

The shittier you make a product, the more inconvenient you force it to be, the faster I dump you. Thank you, crappy business, for helping me to simplify my life. We live in a world that has way too many choices for products & services. Successful products make things easy for lazy people to use, this is the epitome of failure, enshittification.

Already don’t use Google except once in a blue moon, like if I follow a link someone posted to a search, guess I’ll just have to look at the search terms in the URL and use another search engine. I would say good riddence but there is not much left there anyway. This goes for using sites that want you to verify with QR code captcha, never done it, never will.
