If there were way more decent games that required VR, the Steam Frame would make more sense. But I don’t think it’s worth the money right now. It’s actually a good entry point into VR for newcomers : low friction setup and a large backlog of VR games dating back to 2016. Also a good fit for VR
lunaticsenthusiasts because upgrading to wireless VR feels pretty amazing, plus it’s tinker-friendly.I mean, it’s been obvious for quite some time that VR as a mainstream concern was not going to happen. No one in the AAA space is building VR-only games because there is no money in it despite what VR
maniacsearly adopters would like to think. That being said, I was lucky enough to get myself a Steam Frame and am enjoying the shit of the new crop of VR mods as well as a healthy dose of indie titles from my backlog. And while it’s not the best headset for flight/driving sims, it sure can handle them well enough to make them uniquely compelling. As you might have gathered, I’m a bit of a VR
nutcaseenjoyer myselfI just wish they didn’t region lock its purchase to our accounts’ country. Ended up having a friend from Canada buy it from me, only to realize the shipping fees almost match the price of the headset. It would’ve cost me around 10 USD to ship it my way from the US otherwise. I am excited about it but do regret not just going for a pimax or something, which would’ve been around the same price after shipping
