Yo, is it really so inappropriate?
Should it just be “Walk Like a Hieroglyphic” to clarify that this is in reference to Egyptian writings and not literally how people walk in Egypt? Lol
I assumed it was referencing this with ‘pre-Internet’:

Yo, is it really so inappropriate?
No, nobody actually cares. Lefties are really, really good at creating things to scold other lefties about.

Oh hey, this is the same person behind the “Lookin’ good, Susan” comic.
Oh, fun. Another literal comic. There it is.
Yes, surprisingly this Is c/comic strips
Walk like an Egyptian is post internet.
While precursors might have existed before this song released, most wouldn’t consider the internet existing before there were commercial options. These didn’t start to manifest until the internet protocol suite was released as open source in 1989 and commercial ISPs started selling access.

To be precise, its source code was released into the public domain by the university who’d developed it. I’m not saying this to nitpick but because I couldn’t find info on this with the specific keywords “open source”.
I had so far always argued that the invention of the WWW & HTML (not completely simultaneously but almost) 2 years later was the beginning of what most people now call the internet.
It can’t be pinned down to a single moment, but to a relatively short (considering this was a global phenomenon) timespan.
Exactly on point about html and WWW being a better representation for the beginning of what people consider the birth of the internet.
The Internet is not the World Wide Web. It’s far older.
That song is that old?
so you stated with complete confidence something wrong that you could have looked up in two seconds?
it’s '86 for the record.
Since I thought it was some niche garbage from 2005 or so. And the Internet didn’t exist back than in the sense that there was no real yt, twitter or Facebook yet.

Damn, what the fuck was I using to talk to random people about rc stuff and music and shit? CLEARLY it wasn’t the internet, as that didn’t exist before facebook and youtube blessed the world with their presence.
Gladaed, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
The Internet as thought of today. I know about Imageboards. Weird browser games that were actually fun and some flash game websites. But the Internet as used today did not exist in 2005.
Usenet existed, lime wire and content piracy were a thing I guess. E Mail was new and used as a kind of instant message of today.
Lol what?
whoof
You could have just started throwing dirt on me while calling me older than Earth.
And I would have been right. Well, for the second part. ;)
good save.
And Alan Turing is post OpenSSL I guess?
I would say so. If Shakespeare is post SSL, shown by historical record of his quotes, I think Turing would be too.

On the topic of accidental poetry:

I refuse! I REFUSE!!
Dear friend, an SSL error has occurr’d;
The server’s response, regrettably, deferr’d;
The connexion there, I fear, is insecure;
We understand, dear friend, if you might demurThe world would be a more whimsical place if error messages were in iambic pentameter.
Thank you for this
