Summary:

Between April 14, 2025, and January 2026, Nepal recorded 5,966 disaster incidents nationwide. These incidents resulted in 424 deaths, 1,643 injuries, and affected 11,535 families. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority:

  • Fire incidents were the most common with 2,692 cases, causing 75 deaths, 442 injuries, and affecting 2,996 families.
  • Landslides accounted for 577 incidents, killing 71 people, injuring 80, and leaving five missing.
  • Other incidents included 316 floods, 427 heavy rainfall events, 352 lightning strikes, 580 snakebites, 186 forest fires, 290 windstorms, and 422 animal attacks.
  • Additionally, there were 105 high-altitude incidents, five avalanches, seven earthquakes, and two boat capsizings.
  • Currently, 38 people remain missing.

Fire incidents have been increasing in recent weeks.
