    Well, having seen the show I feel like the meme should be the inverse. Jessica Jones(the middle powers) is actively dealing with realizing they’re in an abusive relationship and are trying to get out of it. While Kilgrave(the declining US hegemony) is trying everything in it’s power to bring Jessica back under their control.

      I was just about to say that. He was trying to controlling her to promote his own agenda and very toxic. The only thing missing is him lusting for oil.
