Let me guess: because Pentagon is full of idiots who were unable to cooperate with Kuwait and inform them about the planes and their route. It looks like US still stuck in middle of XXth century.
It’s got to be that. The only other possibility is that it was Iran and they’re just lying about it. But considering who’s in charge of the Department of Defense I think it’s very likely they’re just incompetent.
I don’t think Iran has any anti aircraft weapons with that kind of range.
And the jets were most likely shot down with Patriots.
