Anyone simply hanging around people who speak a certain way is in danger of “cultural appropriation” I guess, since most people will subconsciously adopt the way the people around them speak.
I’m just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.
Currently on Earth for 8 years ensuring steps to unite humanity and usher us into the galactic civilization just so I can see my boyfriend again.

Almost 3TB this month.
Most of that was from downloading Stalker 2 and the updates for it, though. Game was fucking huge and a couple of the updates were as big as the whole ass game.
After 3 upgrades since the game came out, I can get a pretty consistent 40fps in Arma 3. 😤

Man… I can’t even have a little garden on my apartment porch because my unit is in such a position that it never gets any direct sunlight. Even the plants the apartment itself planted for the landscaping just withers and dies from not having any direct sun and they never plant anything that could thrive in the shade.

As more of an outside observer here:
When I was still using Reddit, it looked like most people in that community were just running personal home media servers using basic as fuck raspberry pi setups or just old hardware that could handle it, like maybe a modded Xbox or something.
Here on Lemmy, it looks more like you’re all actual networking specialists hosting damn near everything from home automation to business-level server systems for your home business. You guys are serious; Reddit isn’t. Respect.

How can you not measure detergent? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a washing machine without a lip of plastic that clearly says “fill line” on it. You just don’t go past that lip! Heck, just use the cap of the detergent (if liquid) and most powdered ones I’ve used come with a measuring spoon!

A small home media server running off a raspberry pi could be that cheap.

Only if it didn’t have an insane markup for being pre-built.

$150.
(Also usually speed and/or capacity along with higher quality components)

How severe is this vulnerability?
Banning means for people to communicate?
Yeah that can’t possibly backfire.

You don’t need a static IP to have a domain name
That’s why I said or. You need a static address of some kind for Lemmy; be it just an IP or a domain name. I haven’t seen domain names given away for free since I was in high school; where would you get one now?

I recall seeing talk about how Lemmy instances require a domain name. If that’s true, you’d at least have to have a static IP if not pay for an actual domain name. I haven’t tried to start one up myself though. Mostly because if that is truly a requirement, I wouldn’t be able to.

Once, way back when I still used Hotmail. It’s what made me stop using Hotmail.

“People bad.”

I was on Lemmy for a month before I realized this was a community about hosting servers, and not the Lemmy equivalent of a self.post from Reddit. 🤦♂️
Isn’t selfhosted started by the same dude that started lemmy.world? Meaning it really is selfhosted? 🤔
For a single file, I just use Bluetooth. For a lot of files, or a really big file, I plug my phone into the PC and set it to storage device.
