Your confusion is understandable since MS has called like 4 different products “Copilot”. This refers to the coding assistant built into GitHub for everything from CI/CD to coding itself.
All code uploaded to GitHub is subject to being scraped by Copilot to both train and provide inference context to its model(s).
Basically having your code in GitHub is implicit consent to have your code fed to MSs LLMs.
People using YouTube need this info more than people using PeerTube.
I use matrix weekly with about 3 different (all verified) clients and every single one of my encrypted group chats has had this issue.
Perhaps it has gotten better, but every once in a while some messages simply won’t decrypt, and it’s hard to determine why.
I checked just now and I can’t see one user’s messages sent in the last 48hrs (other users can, and I used to see them too). I haven’t signed out of any sessions and AFAIK they are verified.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Matrix. I host my own server. I think it has the most potential to become an industry standard, but it’s still a rough ecosystem for the non-technical.
Honestly, federated FOSS makes so much sense for government communication, as it insulates them from reliance on corporate entities.
I just wish Matrix’s E2EE worked better. Even if you have all your keys managed properly, it’s still really unreliable.
Yeah, I only didn’t mention this because it’s theoretically possible for Tailscale to discontinue support for that and break compatibility in the clients if they decided they want you using their stuff.

It’s no secret to regular readers of this newsletter that I’m still an
avidPlex user. Despite the numerous privacy concerns, price increases, and recent (confusing) primary domain redirect from plex.tv to watch.plex.tv, I still find the transition to Jellyfin a hard sell given its fragmentation and smattering of third-party clients that are all good* but not really great (oh, and hello to the Lemmy readers who always roast me for this take)*.

This statement doesn’t make sense. The steam controller is an accessory to the Steam Machine. This would be like launching a PS6 controller before the PS6. Sure you could use it with PCs, but they are part of the same product launch.
That is unless they plan to release all 3 products on the same day, which is absurd and something not even Apple does anymore.

It seems like you’re just grasping for reasons to be mad at Valve.
You underestimate how long custom hardware takes to produce. Supply chain issues hit the consumer well after they became a problem for manufacturers.
It’s likely Valve has been struggling securing RAM supply since well before the announcement, which is why the announcement didn’t come with a launch date or a price. Valve was noticeably responded, “we’ll see” when asked about those factors, because they were clearly still struggling securing capacity at a reasonable price.
I hate the AI industry so much–ruining everything we actually like to fund empty promises of a world no one asked for.

I honestly don’t know where people are getting these Wayland issues. I’m on EndeavorOS with an RTX 3080ti and multiple monitors and it has worked flawlessly for ~2 years now.
Translation: They going to try to “marketing” their way out of this hole.
Nothing about Windows or Microsoft will fundamentally change.
These is a very reasonable policy. Strictly policing what is and isn’t LLM generated code is incredibly difficult and not really the point.
I think sticking to their guidelines for code quality and author responsibility is a good perspective.

You’re right, it’s not scraping, it’s worse. Most AI bots do scrape sites for data, though since MS has direct access to the GH backend, they don’t even need to scrape the data. You’re giving it to them directly.
The issue here is trust. Microsoft, along with every other company invested in the AI race has proven repeatedly that getting ahead in said race is more important to them than anything else. It’s more important than user privacy, ToS, contracts, intellectual property, and the law itself.
If they stand to make more money screwing you over than they stand to lose from a slap on the wrist in court, the choice is clear. And they will lie to your face about it. Profit machines as big as MS don’t care. They can’t. They are optimized for one thing.
