i just want to comment that what you say is sane from a political point of view. don’t listen to the knee-jerk reaction here, it’s “monkey sees enemy, monkey clicks button” type of stuff.
just to give some examples, the big historical movements like religion in the medieval ages were successful largely because they managed to unify all people in society somehow. by providing common grounds. and that’s the same ideals of humanity, of democracy, that people claim to defend on here.
we can’t protect democracy by taking away the humanity, by not considering the other one human anymore. because at that point, democracy is already dead.
