After many years on Debian, , I’ve just moved to OPENSUSE Tumbleweed. And I like it.

How often do you zypper dup? Do you worry about update issues?

Haha, I know what you mean. I have a daily backup of all my files, so the answer is daily. I want to see what happens and if it does go belly up, how effective is the roll back to a previous safe setting. No dramas at all so far. 3 weeks in, bits of tinkering and using AnythingLLM with Qwen 2.5 analysing my local docs. Just works (famous last words right?)

I’ve been using Debian for like 15 years, but recently I’ve been trying out OpenSuse, all the versions like Slowroll and Aeon too. It’s just… I keep returning to Debian. On tumbleweed I constantly had that eerie feeling of “oh gosh what changed today…?” What made you do the switch?

No robust rationale for switching, other than willful reading about Tumbleweed. Debian, as ever, was working just perfectly. Would it be acceptable to suggest crazy Brit after drinking a strong coffee? I try distro’s in VM often, just to see. This looked like a drop in replacement with “perks”. Now I question myself as to the perks. Hey ho. I’m perhaps less of the tinkerer but still a horizon scanner.
