While most of the G7 nations have poor relations with Iran, Japan has relatively friendly ties with the country, potentially giving Tokyo more diplomatic sway.

    The problem with this for Iran, which is why I’m skeptical, is that their ability to pressure America comes from their ability to pressure the global economy.

    Every exemption made for passage of ships through Hormuz, weakens that pressure.

    We’ll just have to wait and see how much they actually let through, if anything at all.
