Doesn’t happen too often where I live, but unfortuntely happened during DUNE part 2 and I lost my cool and actually told them to shut the fuck up that time. To their credit they did with minimal back talk lol.

It’s worse with movies that have long stretches of silence like that.

Same movie for me as well! Two people got bored halfway in and didn’t stop talking until the end. It baffles me why. They must’ve known what they were getting into after watching the first Dune movie, which is also pretty lengthy and doesn’t contain nonstop action.

I only used the “Shut the fuck up” call during a showing of the last Paddington movie. There were two girls who used their outside voices and didn’t stop for the first thirty minutes and that angered me quite a lot. The room was packed and no one else told them to shut their mouth. Thanks for not backing me up to the rest of the society, I guess… 😑

People who talk during a movie or fiddle with their fucking smartwatches or phones constantly can all go to extra hell.

David Sedaris talked about movie culture in France in one of his essays. He described the audience as absolutely silent.

    Sounds heavenly.

Ya fr I’ve been going to the movies at least 5-6 times a year for 30 years and I can only recall one time that someone was disruptive enough to say something, and an usher dealt with it before I did. I know it does happen, but it’s not nearly as ubiquitous as memes will make it seem.

Twice, it was so loud we couldn’t hear anything. Ushers are high school kids, mostly, they’re not going to do anything. Twice the option wasn’t to do anything about it but offer us refunds instead.

Granted, it’s been awhile. I was near to teenager age those 2 times.
