along with the strong censoring that has occurred on reddit throughout the years, they have now removed r/all from the app and while using a desktop/laptop browser. instead of being able to stumble upon new subreddits you never knew existed, it wants to curate what you’re allowed to see
I made a joke about how if everyone says that cats are invasive species and should never be let outside, we should do the same with white people.
Banned in seconds. Is my joke terribly funny? Eh, marginal at best. Is it that offensive? Maybe only if you’re extraordinarily thin skinned.
Poe’s Law. There are always too many people who will take it seriously and act in “retaliation”. If they think someone is at all likely to use what you said as a justification for stochastic violence, they will bend over backwards to interpret it as uncharitably as possible.
Because they’re stupid and they suck.
FWIW I like the joke. White people are indeed an invasive species, and my ethnicity is one of the ones labeled “white” so I would be detained too. By all means, send me to Poland. Force Europe to accept me as a citizen on the basis of my ancestry.
