Fascinating. On the one hand it’s great these kids in Kenya are getting answers. On the other, it feels kinda creepy that the lawyers can just take the results of a DNA test and compare it to Ancestry.com’s database of 30 million DNA samples and find either the father or a family member of the father.
It can only be compared with people who have made their data public. Which to be fair, can still lead to family members, even if the match themselves hasn’t shared their data.
But on the other hand, tough shit. The needs of the kid growing up without support from both of their parents matters more than the runaway parent who is trying to hide from their kid.
