In the world of Instagram / YouTube influencers, aggressive promotions and hidden ads it is hard not to have false expectations.

The reality of cruise was different: some mediocre things were oversold, and others that are trully enjoyable were never mentioned. Some minor problems were exaggerated by Temu sellers, others, like squicking cabin, were missing.

We decided to put together expectations vs reality to counter false expectations.

A lot of illness, poor hygiene conditions mostly, and just boredom/frustration dealing with the guests, but he was working there so is not going to be having as much fun as if he was a guest

Oh, as for illness it is quite expectable because of thousands of guests in limited space. Even though they tried to make the ship clean, some bacterias seems to survived- I still feel myself a bit sick

Seems like it would be very difficult to avoid sickness the entire time, even for 10 days or so.

He worked on the global cruise ships with months-long trips.

          Honestly still sounds fun.

Do you think you want to go for one of the longer routes next time? You sounded pretty upbeat at the end of the article, do you already have one in mind?

Definitely yes. Thinking of a route to South America, but just thinking for now. Also considering sailing on cargo ships, want to try

Ah yeah, I looked into cargo ships, but the ones I found offering berths were still fairly expensive and such a big time investment I think I would get a little stir-crazy.

I’ll be interested to hear how your next cruise goes! Thanks for posting, I haven’t thought about cruise ships in a long time so it’s good to stir things up in my head.
