    You know that thought experiment where you have a time machine and can go back in time and tell younger you how to avoid all those mistakes you made…ya know, don’t date that person, don’t go to that party, don’t drop out of that class, don’t be afraid of that bully?

    Yeah, younger you would 100% ignore older you’s advice because you’re old.

      Well yeah, because if you changed those mistakes then you’d never have the opportunity to make them and warn yourself about them

        Sure. That’s causality that you’re talking about.

        I’m just talking about young people thinking they know more about life than us olds. Causality aside, younger you would ignore your insanely accurate advice, just because that’s what they do. Everyone has to learn things the hard way.
