Ukrainians have been in danger for 35 years as a consequence of western intervention, you only know about the last 4 years because it’s suddenly those evil Russians hurting Ukrainians.

You’re mistaken about that. Ukraine was its own republic with its own political representation, its own official language, its own industry, its own peasant collectives, and both Khruschyov and Brezhnev were of Ukrainian origin.
