It’s missing a lot of QoL features in vanilla but people spend a lot of time curating the perfect set of mods for their server. It’s too much work for me but it’s an autistic person’s wet dream.
My kids love it, but I just don’t understand why people like it. The base game has no plot other than finding and killing the ender dragon. I tried playing multiplayer with my kids but all they do is build giant houses and make gardens and what not.
Modpacks are just a list of chores to do with no real sense of overall progress. I’ve tried a few and always have to learn the systems through wikis, not the game. They involved so much learning that I decided I would just code and do side projects because at least that’s more fun.

Like I said, I just don’t get it.
Think “virtual infinite LEGOs”.
you could also just download a modpack and be done with it

what modpacks have you played?
usually, there is supposed to explain things
in my original reply, i was referring to vanilla+ modpacks, which dont change the vanilla experience that much
