Just wanted to point out that “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, the first new Star Wars movie in seven years, what is supposed to be the franchise’s big triumphant return to theaters, is currently getting cucked at the box office by a movie based on a 4chan meme.
Really goes to show how badly Disney screwed up the brand.
The Mandalorian and Grogu was not expected to be a success at all. There have been reams of articles about how it was going to crash and burn at the box office.
They abandoned good writing and storytelling to tear down childhood heroes and throw away a ton of logic about how the universe works.
The Death Star, super star destroyer and Death Star 2 could have been defeated by anybody with a ship with a light speed drive willing to sacrifice themselves, a droid, or through automation.
Force insensitive people can just pick up a lightsaber and fight precognition trained Sith Lords.
It would have been so easy to make a good story in the Star Wars universe without destroying the lore. Fans have done so much work and there are no shortage of them with deep knowledge of canon. I blame KK. It’s all her mess.
If we view this as a film for 8 - 12 year olds rather than 35 - 55 year olds how does it stack up? Sure the money it’s making isn’t in the big leagues but it’s not a bad way to spend a few hours for a kid.
I quite enjoyed the movie. It did feel a bit like they combined about 3 episodes into a movie, but to me it just highlights how nice the story telling of the series was flowing, because it didn’t really feel drawn out. Considering an episode is about 40min, it works out reasonably well timing wise.
There were some cool visuals, fun gags and some characters to recognize if you are familiar with the other Filoni TV shows. The story was quite alright, but enjoyable and could set up some more stuff to come.
I also went to watch the movie with the Star Wars TCG group I am playing with, so we were 9 people that all quite enjoyed the movie. Just miffed that our cinema didn’t have the promo cards xD
I think it’s totally fine for that, as long as you don’t mind your kids getting a lifelong vore kink from all the swallowing/being swallowed going on. It’s not a big story and it’s not trying to be.

No cute and funny Glip-Glorp and the alien jazz bar?
Ahem! Um ackshualy, the canonical term is “jizz”.
it’s like none of them have even seen a singular star war before
That’s what happens when your streaming service isn’t performing like you wanted so you force the show runner to cram the next season into a movie.
And The Mandalorian & Grogu is David Filoni fixing how badly Disney screwed up the brand.
It was definitely not intending to be Episode X, but it seems like most everyone who wanted to see it has already seen it.

And yet “the most” people aren’t enough for it to beat even Solo.
