If I was to draw a picture of a character just for fun for myself, that isn’t violating copyright. If I was to sculpt a figure out of clay, that isn’t a violation of copyright. It stands to reason printing my own 3D model of a character is also not violating the law unless I pirated the model files or ripped them from a game or something.
Though I am also pretty sure it isn’t a violation of copyright to print an actual picture of Mickey Mouse downloaded from Disney’s own website. So again, why should it be a violation to do the same in 3D?
