But on the other hand, classifying hardcore addiction should not even be linked to the drug. There are lots of functioning heroin addicts who dont hurt a soul while others get aggressive when missing their morning coffee.

Alcohol is objectively worse than a lot of the illegal drugs, you should consider it hardcore.
