First time Im even hearing about this search engine
Jake, Jake, Jake
I wish I were as young as you.
I remember using dialup on a 56k modem to play MUDs and I’ve never heard of this search engine.
I am not young, and I may have heard about it before, but definitely have no strong memory of it. I suspect it was of similar popularity to one I do remember: web crawler.
Same era iirc. Right before Altavista and Lycos, I believe.
til, hotbot still
existsexisted.Jeeves would never betray us like this.
Might their bungholes be invaded by 96 irresponsibly agitated fire-ants, that had a very rough day in the office.
Meh… I was more of an Altavista guy.
And Astalavista (if you know, you know ;) )
i mean why would you be unhappy at a bot website using a bot?
are you dumb
HotBot started out in the 90s as a search engine, it was an AskJeeves competitor (top pic). I used it quite a lot until some point in the mid 2000s when I started using old school Google
Now it’s a shitty bot website (middle pic), a fate worse than death
not really, that’d make it useful for the first time in 30 years
edit: my mistake i forgot what website im on
hurr durrr ai bad 👎 etc
I’m pretty AI friendly, but for good use cases, open source and shuns shitty AI corpos like OpenAI
This is none of that, it’s just a shitty generic model wrapper cash grab that puts OpenAI models front and center.
no shit, hotbot has been literally dead since before 9/11, who cares?
