While the overall message and story are probably fine still, the language and delivery has certainly aged poorly. Not even getting into Brooks himself.
I still absolutely love the movie, but it’s the first thing that comes to mind when someone talks about “they couldn’t make a movie like that today”.
That’s like saying Tropic Thunder aged poorly, the point of the racism is to mock it. Which for the time I think blazing saddles was pretty progressive in that regard.
Which is exactly why I said the language and the message were fine? The language definitely isn’t something that is acceptable in movies today, even in mocking. And I would say the same thing about Tropic Thunder, though not to the same degree.
Blazing Saddles can probably fit in there.

I love both movies, I want to be clear.
