I’m not criticizing the Chinese people or even China. I’m criticizing naive people who think systems like national governments don’t develop horrible outcroppings as part of self-perpetuation.
I’m not even saying that’s avoidable, i.e. I’m not saying that China could be much better. I’m just saying that it’s denial to ignore, downplay, or bury every bit of negative reality just because it’s caused by a source you want to defend.
