In the word ‘croissant’ it sounds a lot more like English W than English R (as well as very different from R in other French words).
No it doesn’t. The ‘r’ in croissant is a very pronounced ‘r’ sound. It is just English speakers pronouncing it wrong by conflating it with the following ‘oi’ sound, who thinks it resembles a ‘w’ more.
