Not sure about Sony specifically but Amazon has definitely pulled content and your ‘license’ to said content.
Honestly one of the reasons I’m convinced you can’t mod the newer doom games is because if they allowed it to be modded, it would cripple sales of newer doom games; we joke about playstation, but if they could get away with locking us out of older games to force us to buy newer ones they absolutely would.
Modding games adds so much value in exactly the way that a capitalist company doesn’t want. I played Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy as my main game for like a decade because mods gave it that kind of longevity.
My favorite was Jedi knight 2; soooooooo many weapon mods; I got mods that gave me James Bond weapons, ninja weapons, a mod that made every weapon fire devastating powerful blasts that would send you flying if you hit something close; also enemy mods, new single player levels, new multiplayer levels, also BOTS!
