Grab the shin above the ankle, and check –

  • Hips thrusting through (most important)
  • Head over standing foot
  • Hand and elbow (on non-kicking side) in defensive positions
  • Kick forward into the fingers of the hand holding the shin
  • Thigh horizontal

Hold this for 10 seconds for 10 reps


Put your foot on something waist-high.

  • Pivot on the standing foot
  • Swing the arm and turn the hips (other arts disagree with Muay Thai and say don’t swing the arm). In other words, bring the kicking hip over the other hip.
  • Stnading-side hand goes to the hip and up to comb the hair. (Think of drawing a gun from a hip-holster and firing it into the sky.)
