Just remember to never ever buy a high-powered blue or green laser pointer (1 watt+), which sadly are easily available many places online, because were you to do that, and accidentally turn it on while it was pointed at, say, a camera sensor, you could permanently damage that sensor and make it unusable!

There was a study that showed these don’t actually work.
But I agree with your sentiment. Definitely do not cut them down or pull on their wiring and take any copper/solar panels that you can resell.
