    Interesting that his death isn’t actually in the Iliad. It sounded so unlikely that I double checked online but you’re right!

    For completeness, Odysseus himself had already left his home Ithaca 10 years prior to when the Odyssey starts, so roughly at the same time Troy falls.

    I’m pretty sure Odysseus sails to Troy at the start of the war? He’s one of the guys who brings Achilles. And then is one of Agamemnons backers and advisers.

    So he leaves his home 20 years before the Odyssey starts - 10 years of war, 10 years post war

      Yes, you are absolutely correct regarding the 20 years. I absolutely got myself confused at the end trying to align the timelines.
