I wish I was less surprised by this ratio, I hear far too many millennial ages folks and younger still talking about their 401k and retirement plans like those will still be worth the paper their written on by the time retirement age comes, and that’s if the American monetary systems are even still functional at that point, and thats only for the ones that survive long enough. And that last group is probably gonna be a lot smaller than anyone wants to believe.
If you still need and want to at least try to build for some sort of leisure and happiness in the future I’d recommend putting everything you can save into either getting out of the US or trying to find some land that won’t be gutted for resources and setup a small community of homesteads with close friends and family. Stay off the grid and help each other
Unless we all decide to stop participating and/or tear this system down and build something new it’s not gonna work for us
