Incidentally if you have no money and only a potato PC, GOG should have been your first address for games.

When you buy from GOG, you get an installer executable, instead of some DRM-infected mess. A lot of people prefer the ease-of-use of Steam’s launcher having your library in one place and only a couple of clicks being necessary to install a game, have play data (achievements, play time and such), things like that. Galaxy is GOG’s attempt to bridge that gap, but also isn’t necessary to install or launch games, unlike most things (not all, but most) on Steam.

GOG doesn’t have DRM. You can use a FOSS launcher if you like, this is just another option. I’ll keep using Heroic myself, but I’m happy to have their effort on linux in general, even if I won’t directly benefit from this application.

Oh? They removed “requires gog galaxy” from their games? (most didn’t have this)

So it’s just third party DRM then, my mistake.
