I wonder if humans evolved on a planet with a shitty little moon like this, what would it have done to our views of the heavens? This moon is clearly just an object. It looks like what it is, a rock in space. No one is going to look at this and think that the heavens contain magic and wonders and gods, they would look at this and thing it contains rocks.
I don’t have evidence to back this up, but I don’t think the sun looks that dull to the naked eye from Mars, I think these images were made carefully to show the shape of the moon clearly (with filters etc).
If humans evolved on Mars we probably would never have even noticed eclipses were happening unless we eventually used technology to look closely at the sun.
We just happened to have a sun that’s 400 times larger and 400 times farther away than our moon, so they appear to have the same significance from our perspective.
