But I agree, I don’t think it’s a good recipe for reddit. People will just think “nothing to see here” and leave.Both of these websites are stupid ASF because their CEOs and executives are dumb asses. By locking viewing behind an account all you are doing is killing your views and interactions. But this is what happens when MBAs, consultants and venture capital buys into a social site.
I have never used facebook because I actually read the terms of service first.

Yeah it depends on the sub but for the bigger ones it’s absolutely infested, if you go to one of the subs which takes removing bots transparently like the Tumblr ones you can get a sense of the scale.
