Reddit delivered strong earnings, but the numbers beneath the surface tell a different story. Slowing logged-in user growth and AI-powered search could threaten the platform's long-term value.
It also doesn’t help that out of people who have heard of reddit, it often has a bad reputation.
Reddit has the reputation of being the social media site for incels, nerds, misogynists, and creeps. Barely one step above 4-chan. Which means there’s a significant portion of potential users out there who have heard or reddit, but would never go there because they don’t like the idea of going to such a place. Whether or not that reputation is truly earned is maybe up for debate, but these people will never go there to find out if it’s true or not, because they’re avoiding it to begin with, based on reputation.

Why is nerd being used like it’s a bad thing?
It isn’t, not necessarily. But to those kinds of people, it is a bad thing, and it makes them not want to use reddit.
