Avatar director James Cameron has signaled that he may be ready to move on from the franchise, as the status of its two planned sequels still remains uncertain.
It’s a theme that didn’t need more than one movie anyway. Bad guys show up and try to displace native peoples. Native peoples fight back and win. The end. (even though history shows the bad guys just come back with more firepower and win in the end through attrition)
The guy’s got too much talent to waste the rest of his life on a simple one-movie plot.
I only saw the original, but the story really wasn’t the point of it. The point was to showcase absolutely stunning eye candy. And to that end, I think it was quite successful.
