    Only 50 TB? Holy fuck. How much could that possibly cost to store in Cold storage for two or three vendors?

    Just looked it up and there’s like 20 terabyte tape drives on NewEgg for about a hundred bucks.

    Even worse, how does a cold storage company just cut off your contracts and steal your data?

    Are they linked to Trump because that sounds like sabotage.

      For LTO8 which can store ~12TB/Tape it’s about a 3k investment for used and cobbled togetherness for the drive and anything else, e.g. tape loaders or HBA cards.

      About 6-8k new and properly done.

      Then 50-80 per tape
