I conspiratorially see these articles as propaganda to sway surveillance unidirectionally into governmental hands.
We can’t give people easy access to record police interactions, especially when they are upping methods of state violence like arming them with electronic shock gloves.
Better brand them as “pervert glasses” or try to associate them with pedophiles somehow so they get banned quickly.
(But also, Fuck Meta, and fuck dystopian hyper-invasion of privacy of all varieties)
The difference being that there is (theoretically) more citizen control when it comes to governments.
That’s the biggest difference between government and corporations. Governments are (theoretically) responsible for every person that resides in their established territory. Corporations are responsible only for those they deem financially viable.
Personal space and boundaries are now only concepts people easily ignore.
Broadcasting strangers on social media has become such an everyday occurrence no one seems to remember the individual has a right to privacy.
Pervert glasses and surveillance technology will continue to bring the worst of humanity to the surface at the expense of individual safety, privacy, and freedom.
I’m not sure where you live, but where I live, there is no such thing as a right to privacy.
I think there should be, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. So many people are willingly give up anything that resembled privacy for a little convenience and novelty.
If you’re using any google or apple product, you’re part of the problem. Smartwatch, yes that too. Social media, take everything.
Until people actually start paying attention and actively refusing to take the bait on these modern conveniences (it just works!!!) this will just get worse.
Assume it will be used to harass everyone.
Edit: Just to clarify, I meant messaging is important and I want to see everyone pissed off and raging at this tech.
Damn it must suck being the stock model photo on articles like this
There was a time random people could become “ridiculously photogenic” or “good guy” with luck.
Sorry dude, you’re “pervert glasses”.
It’s apparently Meta promo material? Hard to believe, he looks so creepy. In any case, that would mean he knew what he’s getting himself into?
i’m shocked
