that the UK’s revisions to the Equality Act 2010 risk discriminating against and excluding transgender people.
The UN human rights experts warned that the updated Code of Practice essentially advises service providers that “a women’s service must either exclude transgender women or admit men” and vice versa. The experts cautioned that this “effectively presents exclusion as a means of” legal compliance, and may lead to institutionalized discrimination

Transgender people must be protected but also the Act seeks to stop men putting on a dress and accessing women only spaces. It is a difficult problem and the decision seems to have been made to protect the larger group.
TERF Island aka the UK made a terrible call on this. Don’t run interference for them.
If a cis man enters something like a womens bathroom for the express purpose of harassing or creeping on women, its already illegal. Bathroom bans serve no purpose outside of facilitating harrasement of trans people and creating a society where an already marginalized group feels unsafe going out in public if it means risking using a restroom. Its just discrimination. Same with bans of trans women from women’s shelters for example, it just leads to a group of women which are disproportionately likely to be affected by violence not having access to services meant to help women in those situations.
Edit: Also the decision defintely wasn’t made for the protection of the larger group, it was entirely caused by a JK Rowling funded TERF hate group in an effort to harm trans people.
