I think its more that the racist words and racists violence are not two seperate entities that can be tackled independently
And thats what the person is attempting to do, essentially cut one head off the hydra knowing 2 more will emerge
The common link is not just the words, its not just the violence, its that and the infinite spectrum of ramnifications of people thinking there are greater and lesser people than themselves
Yes violent acts are worse than verbal acts
Traumas should not be compared, all victems are valid, and words can be used violently.
But racism is bigger than words and violence, and saying “oh the racist violence is worse than the racist words, so we should be focusing in on the violence” is ignorant, and purposefully looks for a tree so as to not see the forest.
Racism is born of generational societal systemic levels of suffering - it requires generational societal systemic levels of healing to reduce its harm.
Judging by the response to OOP, I’d guess the original context was somebody punching a racist or something. IE if my guess is right OOP is saying [anti-racist] violence is worse than [racist] words, which explains the negative reaction
If anyone has a source for this to confirm/deny it’d be appreciated tho
Racism isn’t just verbal. It is violent and deadly. Racist violence is just as deserving of being considered violence. Racism is often violent. It should not be categorized as a thing you can compare to violence because racism is also violent.
I am ignorant, please help me understand. Is violence not worse?
Is it a sort of psyhological violence that is worse?

Ah, I see. That makes sense. Thanks!
I imagine the poster was arguing against punching Nazis.
Which come on, no people were ever hurt by punching Nazis.
It’s not violence, it’s fun for the whole family!
Punching nazis is self defense for society at large
I mean, there’s a chance they scraped their knuckles. But I find the scuff worth the punch.
Counterpoint: once my buddy Al broke his fist on somebody’s face
