    It shows “Lake Ontario” here in the UK, but “Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)” as well. Not sure why there is a difference- certainly I’ve never heard anyone use the phrase in brackets in conversation.

      Which is the only reasonable way. A map has to be useful, it’s not their fault a government has changed things.

        Their government didnt change things. They chucked a hissy fit and made unfounded demands, Google decided to appease the crybabies rather than having an ounce of integrity.

          On a practical level, if a government decides to refer to it by whatever name in advisory notices and alerts, it’s useful to have the map reconcile with that name

            No reasonable people are using their bullshit names for the Gulf of Mexico or Lake Ontario and no one should be encouraging it.
