The number of self-hosters makes no difference to me. When 90+% of people I need to reach are inside the walled gardens of corps I boycott (Google and MS), then email is just not an option. Self-hosting myself does not by some magic prevent Google from seeing my messages that would traverse Google’s servers when the recipient sits in Google’s technofeudal fiefdom.
