Capitalism is extremely bad at providing any service or product with inelastic demand or geographic/infrastructure dependent consumption. Which is to say nearly all of them
My local hospital system keeps getting bought by larger and larger organizations. All I’ve noticed is that keep squeezing primary doctors because I almost never saw the same one twice–they were either so booked they couldn’t see me for 3 weeks or they’d left. I finally switched to local clinic that has NONE of the resources or expertise of a hospital–maybe an X-Ray machine–but they have a NP that has been there for over 10 years.
The same site published an article a couple months ago about how private equity vultures are aggressively buying up those exact type of clinics to strip-mine them for their patient relationships while in many cases closing the clinic within a couple years 🙁
its fine for things that are unimportant. toys and such.
