Something quite unexpected here - the newer owners of Nexus Mods have now acquired the popular community website SteamDB, a site that many rely on.

Rip. SteamDb is such a strongly recognised name I don’t see any fork replacing it.

Welp, so much for SteamDB being useful and free.

I had just found this website about 6months ago too and was getting really into it. Trying to get back to my old self a bit…

I never heard someone else say this but man I have a very strong dislike for nexus mods. Their website has gotten so predatory.

Makes sense since they themselves recently got acquired by that company that focuses on “extracting money from startups”. They’re entering full enshittification mode at top speed

I’m gonna stick out like a sore thumb and say I haven’t noticed much. I also run adblocking stuff, so that may be why.

There’s something very wrong about a community run project that is bought by a company for profit. SteamDB would be nothing with contributions from us.
