Ongoing personal anecdote: I’m the kept woman/sugar baby, whatever you want to call it, of a very wealthy Chinese businessman. I’ve been on vacation with him in Europe since last month. He’s technically working remotely, but in practice, most of his work has been delegated to other people.

In almost every episode, there’s the super obese person that can’t do a thing for themselves. They couldn’t possibly get to and maintain that kind of weight on their own.
There is always an enabler. A spouse, partner, caregiver, whatever, that is feeding them and keeping them in that condition.
Sometimes the enabler doesn’t even realize they are doing it. Actually, a lot of the time.
I don’t see sarcasm in your parents answer. I see them realizing that having a middle-class lifestyle is unknowingly enabling the billionaires. They exist, in part, because we allow them to.

He’s making some points that might be valid, depending on how long a german work week is. Last I heard a friend from Bavaria was making thrice my salary doing a similar job. If he’s working a 15h week, that’d be extreme.
I’m from Sweden where a 40 hour work week is the norm.
40hrs a week is too much, sick of the enabling i live in the USA where if you’re sitting while you work(labor) you’re considered lazy
