Just happened to check the modlog right after it happened. Weirded me out to see my username at the top.

Because I so rarely downvote posts, I remembered the one: https://lemmy.today/post/59636388

I downvoted it because there was no context, just a list of names. No evidence. No nothing. It looks like harassment or trying to inspire a brigade.

I’d take it up with the mod but the strange callout list without context + OP’s extended modlog makes them someone I don’t want to DM.

In case it wasn’t obvious from my post history, no I’m not a zionist and I don’t defend zionists.

I even upvoted one of their recent posts! I’m gonna go take that vote back right now.

Looks like OP has been called a fascist before and threw a fucking fit over it without ever actually engaging with the accusation: https://lemmy.today/comment/26103610

Also OP seem to think banning for downvoting IS totally reasonable (but only when it’s them doing the banning): https://lemmy.today/comment/21073828

Also, literally page after page of liberal-sourced news posts. Like, an astounding amount. And you 'like Reuters". Yeah, you’re not beating the lib accusations on this one, OP.

With all that said, the idea that you would downvote a post warning about fascists on Lemmy says pretty much all that needs to be said, though. You were scratched.

Where was I called a fascist? How am I a fascist?

I never disagreed with banning for downvote bots and troll accounts. I’ve done it myself when I was trying to get my communities started, on the very rare occasion I found an account with tens of thousands of downvotes. I disagree with banning for one downvote.

I post leftist media. Also rocks and art. If you have a problem with anything I post, come say so. I don’t ban people for arguing with me.

That first link shows an extended conversation between two users who disagreed respectfully. It doesn’t seem to say what you think it says.

The only way the second link shows anything is if you genuinely don’t understand the idea of context. There’s a bit of a difference between responding to a single instance of something, and an established pattern of behavior.

      You’re incoherent.

Do you know they were fascists or did you just blindly trust some randy who made a hit list with no explanation or context?

Because i think Wren was reasonable in downvoting such a list and was valid in her points when mrdown ended up banning her for downvoting his post. To me, that shows a poor judge of character, someone who power trips and who may or may not be fucked in the head, as is custom on lemmy.

And believe me, I don’t always agree with Wren on things and have had pretty big disagreements with her in other threads, but her downvoting a bonkers hitlist is not reflecting poorly on her, like you seem to think it does. All your comment did was show that you don’t have critical thinking in this issue and prefer to believe something without evidence because you don’t like Wren. This is why lemmy is such a hellhole browse if you’re remotely normal and are used to people being able to disagree without having to walk on eggshells and fearing being labelled as something terrible out of nowhere. It is sp fucking ironic how those of you who screech the loudest about fascism are acting exactly like them the second you get a bit of power.

Thanks for that. I try to disagree respectfully but I can be stubborn as hell and I know it.

I don’t mind that. We also don’t have to agree on everything. 🤗 and yeah, you are one stubborn goat, but so am I, lol.

The only time when I become genuinely annoyed and upset with lemmy as a whole is when conversation is being shut down before they can happen and people get labelled and banned without any ability to defend themselves. I have had that happen to me as well and contrary to what these commumities believe they are achieving, they only end up hurting their own causes and look pathetic and extreme in the eyes of others.

I joined this silly place to hang out and chat and make friends, not to feel like I’m stuck in some crazy keyboard warzone where one percieved slight can make you a pariah xD

This is a unique space but I still love it. There’s some craziness but I have a hell of a lot more genuine conversations with strangers here than anywhere else.

My beliefs are strongly held but loosely felt. I’ll argue to the death but I’m willing to change my mind on anything. And frankly, if I’m not butting heads over something, it means I’m in an echo chamber - and that’s much worse.

Hope to lock horns again soon, in a com that lets people hash it out.

The only people who fear being labeled a fascist are liberals, because they’re trying to keep it a secret.

If they saw someone consistently downvoting their posts, that’s a decent reason to ban a user.
      […]
I banned a couple users in the early days of my communities for downvoting posts back to back, every day. I figured if they didn’t like anything I posted anyway but kept looking at it, I’d help them out with a red flag.

So I donno, maybe you deserved it, or maybe they pay too much attention to votes and over-reacted. Probably better to block them if you don’t like their stuff.

Hmm. That’s not… even remotely the same thing? And seems very reasonable?
