It’s kind of a complicated story, all these events occur within a 48 hour period:
- I made a comment along the lines of “today we have groups that resemble nazis and need to be armed to say they’re bad for our future too”
- Received a permanent ban, probably related to the word “armed”
- Appealed that ban
- Receieved a second permanent ban for “multiple violations”
- Appeal successful, first ban lifted.
- Still banned via second ban, no option to appeal.
The second ban, which appears to be referring to the first ban with “multiple violations” still stands, even with first ban’s successful appeal and lift.
So is that it? No more Reddit for me?

Lemmy is streets ahead of modern Reddit. It’s honestly pretty close to replicating the feel of Reddit 15+ years ago, back when it was more intellectual and dense, less accessible but also way less engagement-baity. Reminds me of a time when the entire internet felt like knowledge waiting to be discovered.
Every so often I go back to Reddit and I’m always astonished by how lowest-common-denominator everything is now.
Stop trying to get people to use “streets ahead” Pierce.
Gotta keep up, or you’ll be streets behind.
God damn it Pierce!
