    one of the internet radio stations I listen too changed their tagline from “Best of the ’80s” to “Gen-X Hits”

      A local “oldies” station changed their motto from “The best of 60s, 70s and 80s” to “The best of 80s, 90s and 00s”. I don’t consider anything from the 00s an oldie. Not even the mid 90s.

        When I was a kid in the 80s, the oldies stations were playing stuff from the 50s.

        Labels like oldies and classic rock were only ever valid as radio formats - they’re not genres unto themselves.
